Room # 2

jack "Legs" Diamond  Room

This cozy rooms overlooks Canadarago Lake and has a queen size bed.  In the days of Prohibition when things got too hot in Albany or New York, Jack "Legs" Diamond and his gangster friends would retreat to the relative obscurity of this upstate area making the Lake House its center of operation.  During this period,  two  rooms were added to the upstairs so that lookouts could watch the road from the north and south.  In the basement, evidence of false walls still exist and a recent renovation covered a trapdoor in the floor from the first floor to the basement.  Did they use it as an escape route or to just move liquor quickly?  We can only imagine.

During the period of greatest prominence, The Lake House had a roller-skating rink and open pavilion on her shores. The steamboat, T.R. Proctor took visitors on excursions around the lake.
